We want to share with you an update about the allocation of Cerezyme® (imiglucerase for injection) across different regions of the world during the temporary supply shortage.

In June, we projected a supply shortfall that would end in October. The existing, limited Cerezyme supply has been distributed since June based upon the principle of ensuring supply for the most vulnerable patients, without reference to commercial or charitable status, and with all countries and regions contributing equitably.

However, as the Genzyme corporate press release issued today indicates, we now project a larger supply shortfall lasting through the end of the year. This change came about because we have made the decision to discard approximately 80% of remaining work-in-process material (harvest material that has not yet been purified and put into vials) which we do not believe can be further processed. This decision was made to minimize any risk of viral re-contamination to the Allston plant as production resumes, and to ensure that new supply will be available by the end of this year.

As a result of this decision, we have reduced the amount of product we are shipping to every country that uses Cerezyme commercially or in charitable programs. Country shipments are being reduced such that that no one country feels a greater impact than another. Country inventories will be managed to best meet the needs of the patients who use Cerezyme in that country in conjunction with regulatory authorities, physicians, and patient organizations.

Manufacturing at the Allston facility has now resumed, with additional virus monitoring in place. We anticipate that newly produced Cerezyme will begin entering markets in the late November to December timeframe, but will not be adequate to fully meet demand until the end of the year.

Nous voulons partager avec vous une mise à jour sur la gestion de l’offre de Cerezyme ® (imiglucerase pour l'injection) à travers les régions différentes du monde pendant le problème d'approvisionnement provisoire.

En juin, nous avions prévu un problème d’approvisionnement jusqu’en octobre. Le stock de Cerezyme a été distribué depuis le mois de juin de façon à  assurer le traitement aux patients les plus vulnérables, sans aucune considération commerciale ou caritative et de façon équitable entre tous les pays et régions.

Toutefois, comme le communiqué de presse de Genzyme publié aujourd'hui l’indique, nous avons maintenant un prévu que le problème d’approvisionnement durera jusqu’à la fin de l'année.
Ce changement s'est produit parce que nous avons pris la décision de nous défaire d'environ 80% du matériel qui n'a pas encore été purifié et mis en flacons et de décider de ne pas le traiter.
Cette décision a été prise pour réduire le risque de re-contamination virale de l'usine de production Allston et de veiller à ce que les nouvelles sources d'approvisionnement soient disponibles vers la fin de cette année.
À la suite de cette décision, nous avons réduit la quantité de produit que nous expédions dans chaque pays qui utilise Cerezyme commercialement ou dans les programmes humanitaires.
Les livraisons par pays sont réduites de telle sorte que pas un pays se sente l’un impact plus que l'autre.

Un inventaire des pays sera établi afin de mieux répondre aux besoins des patients qui utilisent Cerezyme dans ces pays, en liaison avec les autorités de réglementation, les médecins, les patients et les associations.

La fabrication à l'usine d’Allston a maintenant repris avec la mis en place de processus de contrôle de virus.
Nous prévoyons que les nouveaux produits Cerezyme vont commencer à être distribués entre la fin Novembre et Décembre. Mais la production ne sera pas suffisante pour satisfaire pleinement la demande jusqu'à la fin de l'année.
